The collection consists of the papers of J.J. Phillips, 1900-2001, including correspondence, writings, printed material, photographs, and audiovisual material. The writings include typescripts and proofs of MOJO HAND, THE PASSION OF JOAN PAUL II: A PASQUINADE, and drafts of Phillips' published and unpublished poetry and other writings. The collection also includes photographs and genealogical information for the Phillips family, in addition to the family of Florence Russell Phillips, J.J. Phillips' mother. Printed material consists of programs and other material from the Virginia Normal and Industrial Institute.
